Hitler's foreign policy Flashcards

1) Remove the constraints it put on Germany’s armed forces, reintroducing conscription and rebuilding Germany’s navy, army and air force
2) Germany’s western border would be re-fortified and the Rhineland would be remilitarised, both breaking the ToV and the Locarno Treaties (1925)
Create a greater Germany (Gross Deutschland)
1) Expand Germany’s borders to unite all German speaking people. This would include reclaiming all of the territories taken away by the ToV and other nations such as Czechoslovakia and Poland
2) He wanted to make the Third Reich the most powerful country in the world
Gain lebensraum
1) Hitler believed that ethnic Germans needed additional living space to expand at the expense of the lesser races
Destroy Communism
1) Hitler held strong anti-communist views and saw Bolshevik Russia, the USSR, as the enemy of his Third Reich
2) Fascism and communism were ideological opposites, and Hitler believed that conflict between Germany and the USSR was inevitable.
