Q

Why is the option of “anti-Xa level” not available on Sunrise?

A

The calibrators, controls and test program on the analyser used are, however, different depending on which anticoagulant is being tested. The result for an “anti-Xa level” would therefore be inaccurate if the wrong calibrator was used. The lab cannot proceed with anti-Xa testing without knowing which anticoagulant it was meant for to avoid producing an erroneous result,

Q

If a paper pathology request form for an “anti-Xa level” was sent to a pathology lab without specifying the anticoagulant, what would occur?

A

The laboratory would not proceed with testing until they have clarified it with the requesting clinician.
