What are 6 points to consider with adverse drug reactions?
A
- DETAIL – gather as much information as possible about the reaction
- TIMING – initiation, cessation, dose changes of ALL medications and onset of reaction
- DOSES – some reactions are dose related
- DELAYED EFFECT – medication use in recent months (e.g. antibiotics, NSAIDs, general anaesthetics)
- MEDICAL CONDITIONS – is adverse effect a manifestation of a medical condition
- ALLERGIES/ADVERSE REACTIONS – to previous medications
