TBC
What is the reference range for respiratory rate?
Normal respiration rates for an adult person at rest range from 12 to 16 breaths per minute.
What is the reference range for SpO2?
A normal level of oxygen is usually 95% or higher.
What is atelectasis?
Complete or partial collapse of a lung or a section (lobe) of a lung.
What is laryngospasm?
A transient and reversible spasm of the vocal cords that temporarily makes it difficult to speak or breathe
What is eventration?
The abnormal elevation of the diaphragm resulting in a paradoxical motion during respiration that interferes with proper pulmonary mechanics and function.
What is the right hemidiaphragm?
Right hemidiaphragm
What does it mean if a patient is a CO2 retainer?
Being a carbon dioxide (CO2) retainer means that too little CO2 is removed from the blood by the lungs
What are 2 other names for CO2 retention?
- Hypercapnia
2. Hypercarbia
What is a common cause of CO2 retention?
Hypoventilation
What is alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency (AATD)?
A condition where the liver makes too little AAT.
What is the result of the liver producing too little alpha1-antitrypsin in alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency (AATD)?
The level in the lungs is too low to protect against damage, potentially leading to the development of lung disease such as COPD.
What is a pneumothorax?
A collapsed lung
What are costophrenic angles?
The angles of the outside corners of the lungs on a Chest X-Ray.
