Q

What is vascular shunting?

A

A process that increases blood flow to active areas during exercise by diverting blood away from inactive areas; achieved by vasodilation and vasoconstriction

Q

What are the main functions of the cardiovascular system?

A
  • The heart pumps oxygen around the body, to help respiration and production of energy in cells.
  • Helps too clot the blood
  • Controls the bodys temprature
  • If you get too hot, your blood vessels get bigger (vasodilation)
  • If you get too cold, your blood vessels get smaller (vasoconstriction)
