What are the 6 main methods of training
Continuous, fartlek, circuit, interval, plyometric, weight

What is Continuous training?
Steady training without any rest at a moderate to high level
What componant of fitness does continuous training measure
Cardiovascular fitness
What sports can use continuous training?
Long distance runner (marathon runner) or cyclist
What is Fartlek training?
A method of training used by runners who run and the terrain and speed is constantly changing
What componant of fitness does Fartlek measure?
Cardiovascular fitness
What sport can use fartlek training?
Cross country runner or marathon runner
What is circuit training?
Series of excersises completed for a certain amount of time or reps after one another
What componant of fitness does circuit training measure?
There is not 1 specific componant. You can talor the circuit to measure any componant. E.g making it a circuit with different stretches measuring flexibility
What sport can use circuit training?
Almost all sports. For example, if your a rugby player looking to improve muscular strength to win the scrums and rucks, then you can moderate the circuit to work different muscules
What is interval training?
Physical training involving stages of high-low intensity activity
What componant of fitness does interval training measure?
Speed or cardiovascular fitness
What sport can use interval training?
Cyclist as you need to work your body harder at some points of a race compared to other
What is plyometric training?
Excersises in which muscles exert maximum force in short intervals of time
What componant of fitness does plyometric training work?
Power
What sport can use plyometric training?
Basketball, to be able to jump high in a short period of time to win rebounds
What is weight training?
Lifting weights to increase the strength of the muscle using a number of exersises
What componant of fitness does weight training measure?
Muscular strength, muscular endurance, power
What sport could use weight training
Power lifter, to be able to lift as much weight as possible
What are the 5 main fitness classes?
Aerobics, body pump, pilates, yoga and spinning

What is aerobics class?
Aerobic exersises to music, covering a variety of excersises
What componant of fitness does an aerobic class measure?
Cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength & endurance, flexibility
What sport can use an aerobic class?
boxer as there is also constant movement
What is a body pump class?
Excersises to music with low weights with high reps and a variety of exersises
What componant of fitness does a body pump class measure?
Cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance
What sport can use a body pump class?
Cyclist, when having to work muscles for a long period of time. For example when racing up a hill.
What is a pilates class?
Series of core excersises working on quality over quantity and working on range of motion.
What componant of fitness does pilates measure?
Muscular strength and endurance in the core and flexibility
What sport could use pilates class?
Tennis for improve on speed recouvary time and range of motion when stretching for a ball
What is a yoga class?
Ancient excersises focusing on posture or poses to increase strength and flexibility. It improves physical and emotional wellbeing
What componant of fitness does a yoga class measure?
Balance and flexibility
What sport can use a yoga class?
Tennis to improve their range of motion when stretching for balls and also to reduce the chance of injury when stretching or running for balls
What is a spinning class?
Anerobic and aerobic cycling on a stationary bike to music

Cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance
What sport can use a spinning class?
Cyclying or footballer to improve cardiovascular fitness
Why would someone want to take part in a fitness class?
To boost their physical and emotional well-being
