What are soft tissue injuries?

A

Joint injuries - joints are where 2 bones meet. They are very prone to injury as there is movement outside their normal range can tear or overstretch tendons, ligaments, muscles and cartilage

Q

What are sprains ?

A

Damage to the LIGAMENTS- one of the most common sprains in sport is a twisted or overstretched ankle. They occur when stretching too far post the normal range of a joint, but can also be caused by falling or colliding with an opponant. One of the many symptons are swelling

Q

What is a torn cartilage?

A

Is a firm elastic substance which lines adjoining bones. It absorbs the impact on the bones while reducing the friction during sports. Damage to cartilage often occurs due to long-term overuse. They tear their joints

Q

What is a fracture?

A

A fracture is a broken or cracken bone. There are several different types of fractures:
- stress fracture - result of fatigue overuse injury
- compound fractures - the broken bone protudes through the skin
- in closed - the skin over the break is not damaged
- simple fracture - takes place with no displacement of the bone
