What do you do for seizures that arent generalised SE?
If seizures are partial/not altering concious state and there is a long travel time/pt not responding to their medication, concult for doses of IM medazolam
what effects can midzolam have on pregnancy?
crosses placenta and can have adverse affcts on foetus. Eclampsia is a life threatening condition to mother and Baby and im midazolam should be administered
what should be considered at the start of this guideline
status epileptics
other causesm hypoxia, TBI, hypoglycemia and should be mangaed
Pts own medications/managment administered
if there is suspected subtile SE what is the action?
consult for Midazolam and time critical transport
what to do if seizure activity has ceased?
use treat and refer guidleine
what is the action for generalised convulsive SE?
IM midazolam 10mg
or
elderly, frail <60kg 5mg IM (repeated once at 5min if required)
if there is no response after 10minutes what is done?
repate 10mg IM once if pt not elderly, frail or <60kg
consult for further doses
monitor airway and breathing
