pre-existing diabetes diagnosis, bgl >11 and dka features confusion, signs of dehydration, kussmals breathing
WHat is typical of paitents with HHS?
older
higher BGL >30mmol/l
usually dont prestent with kussmauls breathing
what things are evidence of possible hyperglycemia?
confusion, tachpoinea, polyuria, dehydration, polydipsia, kussmauls breathing
what is the managment if the BGL is between 4 and 11 mmol/l?
consider other causes such as dehydration, sepsis and metabolic disorders
what is the action if the BGL is above 11 mmol/l?
If thesre is less than adequate perfusion and clinical signs of DKA?HSS- 20ml/kg IV normal saline tirtated to perfusion- consider less doses for elederl/people with renal/cardiac problems
Consider antiemetic under nausea and vommiting
