What is the presentation?
10ml plyamp
500ml and 1000ml infusion soft pack
What is the parmacology?
An isotonic crystalloid solution
Compostion: electrolytes: sodium and chloride in a similar concerntratio to that of extracellular fluid
Action: increases the volume of the intravascular compartment
What is the metabolism?
Electrolytes: excreted by the kidneys
Water: extorted by the kdneys
Distribution:nthroughout the total body water, mainly in the extracellular fluid compartment
What are the primary emergency indications?
As a fluid replacement in volume-depleted patines?
Cardiac arrest secondary to hypovolema or where the patient may be fluid responsive
To expand the intravascular volume in the non-cardiac, non-hypovolaemic hypotensive patient-burns, spies and anaphylactic
As a fluid challage in unresponsive, non-hypovolemic, hypotenuse patients- asthma
FLuid or dilating and administering IV drugs
Fluid TKVO for IV afdministraion of emergency drugs
What are the contraindications?
Nill of significance in the a Ove indication
What are the precautions?
None
What are the routes of administration?
IV or IO
What are the side effects?
