DIK. “What’s up?”
ΔΙΚ. τί δ’ ἐστίν;
AMP. “I was hurrying here bringing a treaty for you.”
ΑΜΦΙ (looks around anxiously) ἐγὼ μὲν δεῦρό σοι σπονδὰς φέρων ἔσπευδον.
“But I didn’t evade the Akharnians.”
ἀλλ’ οὐκ ἔλαθον τοὺς Ἀχαρνέας.
“Those old men, being fighters at the battle of Marathon, the moment they spotted me bringing the treaty, all shouted…
οἱ δὲ γέροντες ἐκεῖνοι, Μαραθωνομάχαι ὄντες, εὐθὺς αἰσθόμενοί με σπονδὰς φέροντα, ἐβόησαν πάντες, …
“‘You foulest of creatures, are you bringing a treaty when the Spartans have destroyed our land?’”
“ὦ μιαρώτατε, σπονδὰς φέρεις, Λακεδαιμονίων τὴν ἡμετέραν τῆν ὀλεσάντων;”
