Reaction times — practical Flashcards
1
Q
What is an indépendant variable and which axis is it plotted on?
A
This is what changes ~ plotted on x axis
2
Q
What is a dependant variable and what axis is it plotted on?
A
This is what’s measured ~ plotted on y axis
3
Q
What are control variables
A
These are what is kept the same to avoid bias
4
Q
State 7 factors affecting reaction times
A
Gender
Age
Physical fitness
Level of fatigue
Alcohol
Personality type
Caffeine
5
Q
What are the 3 stages to the reactions time practical?
A
- Use of dominant hand rests whilst other person drops a ruler,
- The hand rests at 0cm and catches the ruler when it is dropped, the cm which it is caught at is recorded and this repeats with other people
- Recordings are then converted into reaction times
