4.1.3.3 active transport Flashcards
Active transport moves substances from a more.. to a ..
Dilute solution to a more concentrated solution. This is against the concentration gradient
Describe the net movement for active transport
From low to high concentration
Which of the types of cell movement require energy from respiration
Active transport
Describe how plants use active transport.
Active transport allows mineral ions to be absorbed into plant root hairs from very dilute solution in the soil. Plants require ions for healthy growth.
Describe how active transport is used in the human body.
It allows sugar molecules to be absorbed from lower concentrations in the gut into the blood which has a higher sugar concentration. Sugar molecules, used for cell respiration.
Define what passive means
It doesn’t require energy
State which of the cell transports are passive and which aren’t
Active transport - passive
Osmosis, diffusion - are not passive
