Need chest tube to drain
What is pleurodesis?
Scarring pleural space shut
Pneumothorax tx?
What could cause a located pleural effusion?
Empyema or abscess (means doesn’t free flow, won’t move with lateral decubutus image)
Polysomnography?
Sleep test (somnolent study). Calculates apnic episodes per hour
Med for central sleep apnea?
acetazolamide
Pretreatment for intubation for hear rate?
Atropine used for bradycardia in children
What controlled mechanical ventilation?
Controls rate and volume
Initiates every breath
(patients can rest)
Intermittent mandatory ventillation
Delivers rate and tidal volume, patient breaths in between. GOOD FOR WEANING
What is synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation?
Synchronizes with initiated breaths
Patient able to breath between breaths
USED WHEn weaning off of ventilation (used inlace of intermittent mandatory ventilation)
