It is probably strep
Oral Dicloxacillin, cephalexin, clinda
If severe, IV cefazolin, nafcillin, clindamycin
Purulent cellulitis tx?
Likely STAPH
Clinda
TMPSMX
Linezolid
If severe:
IV Vanco
Patient at risk for endocarditis and has faruncle for needing drainage?
Give Vanco first
Hidradenitis suppurative is what? Tx?
Chronic occlusion of apocrine glands (usually axilla)
Tx is avoid skin trauma, gentle cleansing
Mild: topical clindamycin
Severe disease? Oral doxy or minocycline, debrident
Two types of fasciitis are what
Group A
Polymycrobial
often they have systemic disease or diabetes or something
Tx nec fasciitis?
AGGRESSIVE SURGERY
Antibiotics:
Carbapenem, Clinda and vanc
What is dry gangrene from?
Arteriosclerosis and ischemia at tip of toe
What is wet gangrene from?
Bacterial infection in moist tissue. Several bacteria
Gas gangrene is from what?
clostridium perfringens
Hyperbaric O2 helps. You have crepitis
Mild impetigo tx?
Mupirocin
Moderate or severe impetigo tx?
What if staph?
Dicloxacillin or cephalexin
Clinda, Bactrim, doxy
Skin abscess antibiotics?
Controversial, but since probably staph do clinda, bactrim, doxy or vanc
Above are MRSA drugs
What does rosacia look like?
Telangiectasias and papules, but no comedones!
