Breast abscess has a fever, broad area of warmth and tenderness, purulent drainage.
How is it different than galactocele?
Galactocele is just clocked milk duct, no puss (just inflamed because clogged and since clogged of course won’t drain!)
Young woman with breast mass that is mobile is what?
Fibroadenoma
Dx of fibroadenoma?
Ultrasound or FNA
DO NOT NEED MAMMOGRAM
If over 35, do mammogram
Intraductal papilloma history?
Benign lesion of ductal tissue
Bloody nipple discharge or spontaneous discharge
Nonbloody discharge that comes out with expression?
usually not cancer
Most common breast mass age 35-50?
Fibrocystic change
Gene in men with breast cancer?
BRCA2
Cyst is not cancer!
So you do ultrasound to see if it is fluid filled before biopsy if low suspicion of malignanc
What breast cancer is always ER and PR positive?
Lobular carcinoma in situ
Inflammatory cancer mimics mastitis, so beware if mastitis not getting better!
oh ok
Tx of DCIS?
Lumpectomy and possibly radiation
Mastectomy if high risk
LCIS treatment?
Close observation
SERMs reduces invasion
Can still do bilat mastectomy if you want
Invasive carcinoma of breast tx?
Early and focal: lumpetomy
Multifocal? mastectomy
Do sentinal node biopsy
