Q

How do we test to distinguish between ketones and aldehydes?

A

aldehydes:
= heat with fehlings solution (A+B)
= blue to brick red precipitate- positive
= negative with ketons

= heat with tollens reagant
= colourless solution, silver pure mirror is formed
