When does the proximal end of the fibula appear and when does it fuse?
Appears during year 3-4
Fuses at 17-19 years.
Note that in the fibula it is the distal head that appears first, in the tibia it is the proximal.
Which bone has an atypical fusing pattern?
The proximal end of the fibula is the last to appear and the last to fuse.
Normally the earlier the bone appears, the later it fuses.
