Hematology and Oncology Anatomy Flashcards
What is the Von willbrand receptor on platelets?
GpIb
What is the fibrinogen receptor for platelets?
GPIIb/IIIa
What is the normal leukocyte count?
4-10,000 cells
Name the white blood cells from highest to lowest
Neutrophils Lymphocytes Monocytes Eosinophils Basophils ***
Neutrophils like making everything better.
When would you see hypersegmented poly lobed neutrophils?
B12/folate deficiency.
Large kidney shaped nucleus with frosted glass cytoplasm
monocyte
What activates macrophages?
gamma interferon
Can function as antigen presenting cells via MHC II.
Bilobate nucleus producing histamine and major basic protein
eosinophils best to kill of helminthese
Basophils
Meant to mediate allergic reactions.
Contain heparin and histamine.
What are lymphocytes?
T cells, B cells, and NK cells.
Which CD protein do T reg cells generally express?
Generally express CD28
“Clock face” chromatin containing cell.
Plasma cell
Multiple myeloma is a plasma cell cancer.
What would be a universal recepient for blood?
Someone with an AB blood type as there would be no anti A or anti B IgM antibodies.
This person is also a universal donor of plama as they have no antibodies directed to blood.
What is the universal donor blood type and univesal plasma recepient blood type?
Type O blood can donate to anyone as the blood has no surface markers.
They can receive and blood type as any existing antibodies in donor blood could not bind to the blood cells. (lack surface antigens)
Which immunoglobulin is able to cross the placenta?
IgG is able to cross the placenta which is why Rh- mothers could have a reaction.
IgM (blood type) does not cross the placenta.
