- grow by expansion/localised
- slow growth
- resembles the tissue of origin

- lump/pressure
- +/- hormone secretion
- treat by local excision

- invasion/infiltration
- no capsule
- metastasis (can spread to other organs)
- variable to origin tissue
- many mitoses
- local pressure/ infiltration
- +/- hormone secretion
- local excision chemo or radio therapy may be needed
