What are the three surfaces of the lungs?
Diaphragmatic surface - against the diaphragm
Costal surface - against the ribs
Medial surface - the middle/inner surface
What is the name of the part of the lungs that rests against the heart?
Cardiac notch
How many lobes does the left lung have?

But in dogs there is a deep fissure that splits the cranial lobe into 2 sections (cranial and caudal)
How many lobes are in the right lung? What are they?

Where does the accessory lobe sit over?
The caudal vena cava
What is the main species difference in the right lung?
Horses only have 3 lobes, no middle
What is demarcation?
The lobules of lung tissue are surrounded by connective tissue
They dont look a smooth consistent colour
What animals have demarcated lungs?
Pig and ox
Goats have cranial and middle lobes
Which lung is better to see the impression of the aorta?
The left
What are the veins that are the most obvious impressions on the right lung?
The azygous vein and the cranial vena cava
What are plica?
A fold in the visceral pleura
