Q

Petrous Bone

A

The ear canal

Q

Cleft

A

Gap,
cleft lip = Skin
Cleft palate = the bones, creates gap to the nose,
1 in 700 births = USA
Third world far more common
Environmental factors, water, contaminated water and hygiene

Q

Nasal Septum

A

Top is the ethmoid bone
Volmer is the bottom
sepal cartilage attaches to these bones
Trouble breathing break the septum and realign deviated septum = crocked septum

Q

TMJ

A

Can dislocate
Can move the jaw foward,
Blow to the jaw can pop this out
Yawning too wide can do this
Have to pop the jaw back in place quickly
swelling in the joint, more than an hour = impossible to put jaw back in place till swelling goes down

16
Q

Floor of the orbit

A

The maxillary bone
Critical part
very thin
You will shatter this if you have a blow to the face = “blow out fracture”
Eyeball will fall into the sinus of the maxillary

17
Q

Pubery and skull bones

A

Skull bones will change during release of hormones

18
Q

Fontanels

A

2 years all disappear

Poor nutrition or poor hormone lvls may prolonge the closing

19
Q

Sutures

A

With age will be gone = more bone?

Sutures may allow flexibility, gone = more fractures?
