Q

purpose of the” ‘iridic granules” (corpora nigra)

A

they are used to to shade the eye from bright
sunlight.

In bright light these iridic granules can actually interlock to completely cover the centre of the pupil. This leaves just two holes open on either end of the pupil, reducing the amount of light that can enter the eye.

Lateral Rectus

A

CN6 pulls eye laterally

25
Q

what CN innervates this muscle:
Superior (dorsal) oblique

A

CN4 depresses eye and turn eye laterally

26
Q

“dehorning procedure” often exposes ______

A

cornual sinuses

27
Q

what is this showing

A

Horn shears to remove horn & expose cornual sinus (bovine)

28
Q

what is this showing

A

Cauterization of horn base (caprine)

29

34
Q

How old is this cow

A

1.5-2 years

37
Q

Why is this Limbus important

A

this is where you put an injection (between sclera and cornea)

38
Q

what is the name of CNIII

A

oculomotor nerve

39
Q

what is the name of CN VI

A

abducen nerve

40
Q

what is the name of CNIV

A

trochlear nerve

41
Q

OD=
OS=
OU=

A

OD= right eye
OS= left eye
OU= both eyes

42
Q

Lens is suspended bind the ____

43
Q

what is going on when an animal is diagnosed with glaucoma

A

There’s a problem with the drainage of aqueous humor (not usually overproduction).

This causes it to build up, leading to increased intraocular pressure (IOP).

44
Q

How does fluid travel through the chambers of the eye

A

from posterior chamber out the pupil into the anterior chamber

46
Q

When you are dehorning an adult, what makes it a more risky procedure

A

you are opening the frontal sinus which might attract insects/parasites to infiltrate the area

**this is why we do it in the winter so there is less insect risk
