Where do confidential funds come from?

Answer 1

Funding mechanism from the department, the AG, & the DAs Office. Grant monies, forfeiture, funds, and funds from state and federal government agencies can be used as payment, if not prohibited by law.

Who maintains the confidential expenditure fund account?

Answer 2

Unit commander. May use funds for the following:

Procurement of evidence

Payment to a registered confidential informant

Investigating expenses

Purchase of consumable supplies for further investigation.

Question 3

How often should unit commanders account and audit their expenditure of confidential funds account?

Answer 3

Each quarter.

Also, upon the change of command at a unit, a documented reconciliation of the accounting records shall be made with the incoming Unit commander .

Question 4

Official documented internal audit accounts of all records for confidential funds shall be conducted when?

Answer 4

Annually by the division commander
