Each organizational component of the department shall be inspected at least every?

The Office of Professional Integrity and Accountability shall (OPIA):

Answer 2

Conduct staff inspections on all resources, entities, and facilities within the department;
Conduct open inspections with a full knowledge in cooperation of everyone involved ;
Notify the appropriate commanders of the intended date and scope of any inspections, at least 7 days in advance of the inspection ;
Including list of materials, files, and subjects to be reviewed or examined by the inspector .

Question 3

At the Troop level, who works cooperatively with the OPIA inspector?

Troop/Section commander shall work cooperatively with the inspector and shall prepare and provide all materials requested.
Upon request of the appropriate Division Commander, inspector may conduct unannounced inspections of any department entity .

Question 4

Routine staff inspections include:

Answer 4

Narcotics, contraband, and physical evidence
Seized monies/assets forfeiture ;
Payroll entries , including overtime;
Automatic Vehicle Locator Technology (AVL)
Body Worn and Camera Mounted camera footage
Detail inspections
Found/held property
Holding facilities
Racial profiling compliance
Line inspections
Administrative journals and records
Issued department equipment
Other areas as directed by the Division Commander of Standards and Training

Question 5

Where does the inspector’s detailed report through channels get forwarded to and within how many days after each inspection?

Answer 5

The report gets forwarded to the Colonel within 60 days of the inspection.

This report should include at a minimum :
Findings and observations to include, but not limited to :
Positive aspects of the area being inspected
Noting of deficiencies observed
Recommendations for improvement, and/or correction, and
Opinions, recommendations, and conclusions

Copies of the report shall be forwarded to the appropriate Division Commander

Question 6

Upon receipt of a staff inspection report, Troop/Section commanders, shall submit report outlining the specific actions taken to insure correction of all deficiencies noted. This report shall be submitted within how many days and to whom?

Answer 6

30 days to the Division Commander. The Division Commander of Standard and Training will also receive a copy.
