When will the visibility lights turn on?
When the Forward position is selected on the reverser in an active cab
When do the visibility lights flash alternately
Whenever the horn is activated,
this is not a hazard light. It is normal operation
When do the strip lights activate?
Whenever the cab Door is opened
What happened to the cabin door when there is no battery power available?
It is unlocked and can be pushed open
What is the EAS?
The electronic access system
What does the EAS consist of?
A control unit.

What does the EAS do?
It activates the electric strikers to release the cab doors when an authorized access card has been touched to a badge reader
In what ways can the electric strikers release the cab door?
- with a badge reader
- remote access
- Cab emergency access device EAD
How does the EAD work?
Press and hold the cab EAD for 10 seconds to allow the cab door to be opened in an emergency when the cab is active
How would you know that the bulkhead door is unlocked when using EAD to enter?
The green LED in the badge reader will flash quickly five times to confirm the door is unlocked
How long will the electronic striker remain unlocked for when touching your card on the external badge reader?
5 seconds
How does the driver know that someone is trying to use the EAD button to enter the cab?
There is an audible alarm in the cab to alert, the Driver that someone is holding that button down
(The cab EAD button powers a smart delay timer, that only activate the electric striker after being held for 10 seconds during this activation, there was an audible alarm in the cab to alert the driver)
How can the driver prevent the cab EAD from releasing the cab door?
The driver can press the cab release inhibit button, located on the high beam headlights panel. This prevents the cab EAD from releasing the cab door for 5 minutes.
This inhibit button can be pressed multiple times
Will the train have traction power if any cab door is open?
No
The cab side doors are linked to the door status loop circuit
What is the cab bulkhead door fitted with?
Seals to prevent ingress of fluids and noise from the saloon
What would happen if the O.J. T seat is not placed in the parked position? *
The A side door will be prevented from opening properly
How are the seats adjusted for the driver?
Electrically and pneumatically
What is the back up screen used for?
In the event of SDU or HMI failure this screen will become SDU (The surveillance display unit)
Does the driver touch the O.J. T panel?
No
Do drivers press, the smoke dismiss button on the cab, comfort panel? *
Never
Do drivers touch the signal mode switch

What are the positions of the cab fan?
Low
auto

What are the positions of the fresh air damper switch and what is it for?
Open.
Auto.
Closed.
To manually open or close fresh air dampers in case of external smoke or fire
What must a driver do before using the badge reader to access the train controls and activate the cab? *
The driver must first turn the master control switch to on.
Then to activate the cab and logon to the TMS, hold the access card over the radar for 1 second
How does a driver know that the badge reader is operative in the drivers cab?
The indicator light will flash green , intermittently
How are the Pantos lowered
Press, the red push button that says Panto lower. The Pantos should take no more than 10 seconds to lower
What are the two needles on the brake cylinder gauge?
Brake cylinder pressure from bogeys, one and two they should both be at the same level one on top of the other
How do we operate the master controller?
The master controller switch must be in the on position, and the driver must be logged onto the train management system
What are the positions of the master controller switch?
On and off
What other positions of the reverser?
FOR - Forward.
NEU - Neutral.
REV - Reverse.

When the master controller switch is in neutral or off, where can the master controller move to? *
Between maximum brake
and emergency brake

What is the Backlit window of the Master controller for? ***
The backlit window also acts as a cab, active light
When lit, the window informs the driver there either this cab or the trailing cab is active
What will happen if the hand pilot valve (or foot is released to the floor) is released while the train is in motion, or while stationary with a 50% or less breaking application? ***
An alarm will sound, and after
1.5 seconds
the emergency brake application will occur
When does the safety system bypass fault light illuminate on the fault panel ? ***
When a safety system has been bypassed:
• Traction interlock
• 0 Speed
• Trip
• Driver safety device
• HCS isolate
What is the Safety system bypass ACK button?
It’s for when running on the secondary circuit, the acknowledgment button
How many detectors must sensesmoke before the EXT SMOKE Fault button illuminates?

What is the ATO start button for?
When Driving on CBTC it’s a green button.
To start the HCS, equipped trains in AM mode
What is the DER inhibit button for? ***
To inhibit the saloon internal DER. If an internal DER is activated, a 20 second timer begins before the door can be opened. If the driver presses the DER inhibit within that time frame the door will be inhibited from opening for 120 seconds. This can be done multiple times.
For how long will the door be inhibited from opening when the DER inhibit button is pressed? **
120 seconds
What are the positions of the set speed switch?
Wash
Off
Yard
What does the cab release inhibit button do?
It prevents anyone from getting inside the cab
for 5 mins
(when someone on the outside is trying to get in by pressing the outside button)
What is the trip speed button for?
It’s a red push button with a cover.
To override the 25 km an hour speed restriction post trip

On the O.J. T panel what is the trip reset button for?
For O.J. T’s to reset the trip
drivers may use this at times such as when testing on preps
When can emergency brake application be reset
Not until the train to Stationary
What is in the A side electrical cabinet? **
• Isolation/ Override controls.
• Circuit breakers
• Communication equipment.
• Vigilance equipment.
It also contains the stable and start up switch

How do we operate the MR pressure switch on the SS Iso switches panel?
We turn it with the towing cock as well.
Purpose is to lower Main Res pressure in Comeng when coupling to a comeng

0 default position.
