Brake controller Comeng Flashcards
What are the different valves in the brake controller on a comeng (7 answers)
Release prevention vlalve
Regulating valve
Relay valve
Charging valve
Emergency exhaust valve
Lockout magnet valve
BVICS
What is the purpose of the release prevention valve?
Prevents release of the brakes whilst auto air braking
What is the purpose of the regulating valve?
Regulates the brake pipe
It reduces MR air pressure to a control pressure. This is then duplicated in the equalising res. To a value between 380 - 410 kPa to up to 550 depending on the position of the brake handle.
Maintains B.P ⬆️ to 550 when brake is in R & R when using EP
What is the purpose of the Lockout Magnet Valve?
Switches from EP/ Rheo to AUTO AIR brake when de-energised or OPEN
(When closed is energised)
Control res provides air to what
Trip and line breakers
LOMV raises flag when
Loss of overhead
Ep CB tripped
Air pressure in MR is below safe level (500kpa)
What is the purpose of the charging valve?
(& Emergency Exhaust valve)?
Dumps brake pipe
Opens when brake is released to charge brake pipe
What is the purpose of the BVICS?
Charges the brake pipe? (MR - BP)
Energizes the LOMV
DTRS
DDU
What is the purpose of the relay valve?
It relays Equalizing reservoir to the Brake pipe
(It controls the flow of air into & out of the BP to a pressure set by the equalising reservoir
