VICERS whistle I.C. x 2 (used by maintenance crews) one for high & one for low note
How is the height adjusted on the driver’s seat?
Electrically operated by the 24v DC switch RHS of seat base
The backrest, seat position & armrest are all mechanically adjusted
What electric equipment is contained in the MCB Panel ?
Located on the LHS of drivers desk
It contains:
Various Circuit Breakers & controls
Air-con unit control switch
Safety Loop 110v Supply Switch
Door Loop Bypass & Iso light
Which circuit breakers in the MCB cabinet are most important to know?
23q2 - safety loop negative
23q1 - safety loop positive
22q6 - Multiple Unit Relay
(we trip this when doing full cab functionality test in centre cabs on 6 car post maintenance prep)
When using the SPOT 9 door close button what must we check ?
Check (look) the driver’s dash for the steady blue light (SPOT button near cab door has no light so don’t assume saloon doors have properly closed)
Where are the wheelchair ramps located?
In a cabinet in the saloon next to doors 1 and 6
What items is the VICERS acknowledgement button connected to?
Master Controller & Whistle
What must a driver do if the FDCL button is not in a more pronounced position?
Report it as a fault via TMM
How do we know when we have a PEI call coming through?
The button will illuminate
(red ANSW button on communication control panel )
When responding to a PEI call what must we ensure to be heard by and to hear the caller?
Push the PTT button in whilst talking; release button to listen
ANSW button only acknowledges call
How do we use PA?
PA buton will illuminate when active but we must hold PTT button to be heard
When we have an incoming call from another cab how do we know?
CAB TO CAB Button flashes
Steady illumination when active
You must still hold in the PTT when speaking
What are the 4 positions of the Master Controller?
Emergency Brake
Brake
Coast
Power (labeled as Motor)
What will happen if the Master Controller is on Coast but the speed of the train is below 0.5 km/h (Speed threshold) ?
The holding brake (120 kPa) will automatically apply until traction power is requested
When we have applied the Emergency brake, when can we reset the Master Controller?
After train has been brought to a complete stand
What are the 3 positions of the reverser?
FORWARD
NEUTRAL
REVERSE
*drivers must take care reverser handle can inadvertently be placed in to Reverse
What position must the reverser be in to remove the MC key?
NEUTRAL
What are the 3 key copper SEALED switches on the Driving Aids Control Panel?
- Safety Loop Bypass Switch
- Auto Vigilance Bypass switch (HAND &!FOOT pilot valve & Trip -.NOT VICERS)
- Tacho Bypass Switch
What are the 3 positions of the Headlight switch?
AUTO
LOW
HIGH
(Auto will ensure lights turn off automatically when leaving cab)
What position must the reverser be in to operate the headlight switch?
NEUTRAL
What are the 4 positions of the windscreen wiper?
0 - OFF
INT - INTERMITTENT
1 - SLOW
2. - FAST
What are the 3 Cab lighting positions?
0 - OFF
