Concerns about the environment and environmental regulation
Sierra Club
May seek military aid, economic aid, or favorable trade agreements, and may make campaign donations to sway political decisions
Foreign-Interest Groups
Requires these groups to inform the Department of Justice of lobbying activities
Foreign Agents Registration Act
Regulates PAC campaign contributions, but the government cannot stop a PAC from working indirectly with a candidate
Federal Election Commission
Defines a group that does not directly urge citizens to vote for a specific candidate
527 Organization
A person who tries to influence legislation on behalf of a special interest
Lobbyist
PACs tied to corporations, labor unions, trade groups, or health organizations (about 75%)
Affiliated PAC
Not connected to any existing interest group (about 25%)
Independent PAC
A private contribution for an independent PAC; non-profit, advocacy organization dedicated to eliminating the US arsenal of nuclear weapons
