Adult dosages for glucagon
1.0 mg
May repeat dosage in 7-10 minutes
Pediatric dosages for glucagon
5 yrs or younger or less than 44 lbs (20 kg): 0.5 mg
5 yrs or older or more than 44 lbs (20 kg): 1.0 mg
May repeat dosage in 7-10 minutes
Special considerations for glucagon
Check blood glucose level before and after each dose
Drug may be used in conjunction with dextrose 50%
Drug may be used in conjunction with thiamine (vitamin B1) for a patient with malnutrition or alcohol abuse
