Routes of administration for adenosine
IV
IO
Onset/Peak/Duration for adenosine
O: 20-30 seconds
P: 20-30 seconds
D: 30 seconds
Adult Dosages for adenosine
6.0mg RAPID bolus over 1-3 seconds followed by 20 mL normal saline flush
If no response to initial bolus after 1-2 minutes, administer 12 mg RAPID bolus over 1-3 seconds followed by 20 mL normal saline flush
Pediatric dosages for adenosine
0.1 mg/kg (up to 6.0 mg) RAPID bolus over 1-3 seconds followed by 5-10 mL normal saline flush
If no response to initial bolus after 1-2 minutes, administer 0.2 mg/kg (up to 12 mg) RAPID bolus over 1-3 seconds followed by 5.0-10 mL normal saline flush
Special considerations for adenosine
Constant monitoring of the patients cardiac rhythm is required during administration of the drug
The half life is 6-10 seconds
