what are the components of a cool down
A
- activity to maintain elevated breathing and heart rate e.g. jogging and reduced gradually
- stretches which involve all major muscles used
- further recovery process e.g. ice bath, massage, rehydration and nutrient intake

how do ice baths help recovery
A
- performer in ice btah for a few minutes
- blood vessles vasoconstrict to force blood back to body’s core
- performer leaves ice bath
- blood vessels vasodilate allowing oxygen-rich blood to flush the muscles
- this helps remove watse products and prevent DOMS

how does massage help recovery
A
- rubbing and kneading of muscles helps redcue pain and assists with blood flow through the muscles, so flushes out the waste productsho

how does rehydration and nutrient intake help recovery
A
- replace lost fluid to prevent dehydration which can cause headaches and increase decision making and reaction time
- suitable foodstuffs should be consumed to replace lost nutrients/ salts and aid the recovery process.
