DO FOLLOWING PROC
CHECK BEHIND ACFT CLEAR PF
ENGINE VIBRATION LEVELS MAY BE ABOVE NORMAL OPERATING RANGE DURING ICE SHEDDING
MIN 40 % N1 FOR AT LEAST 5 SECS EVERY 60 MINS
IF HIGH ENG VIBRATIONS OCCUR A RUNUP TO 50 % N1 MAY BE DONE

DEICIING ANTIICIING PROC

A

TESTING OF UNDILUTED FLUIDS HAS SHOWN THAT SOME IF THE FLUID REMAINS ON THE WING DURING TAKEOFF ROTATION AND INITIAL CLIMB

RESIDUAL FLUID CAUSES A TEMPORARY DECREASE IN LIFT AND INCREASE IN DRAG HOWEVER EFFECTS ARE TEMPORARY. USE NORMAL TAKEOFF ROTATION RATE

IF DEICE ANTIICE NEEDED READ AND FOLLOW SUPP PROC

Q

TAKEOFF PROC

A

WHEN EAI REQD AND OAT 3 DEG OR BELOW NEED STATIC RUNUP

WITHIN 5 MINS OF OR IN CONJUNCTION WITH TAKEOFF:
MIN 40 % N1 up to 55 % N1 MAX
5 SECS MINIMUM
IF HIGH FAN VIBRATIONS PERSIST INCREASE THRUST TO MIN 50 % N1 up to 55 % N1 MAX AND MAINTAIN THAT THRUST UNTIL VIB BELOW 4 UNITS BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH TAKEOFF

CONFIRM STABLE OPERATION PRIOR TO FINAL ADVANCE TO TAKEOFF THRUST

NOTE ENG VIB MAY INDICATE MAX DISPLAY PRIOR TO SHEDDING ICE HOWEVER THIS WILL HAVE NO ADVERSE EFFECT ON THE ENGINE

AFTER RUNUP NO NEED TO REDUCE THRUST BEFORE BRAKE RELEASE FOR TAKEOFF AT ANY GROSS WEIGHT OR CENTRE OF GRAVITY

Q

FAN ICE REMOVAL

A

CAUTION AVOID PROLONGED OPERATION IN MODERATE TO SEVERE ICIING CONDS

IF MOD TO SEV ICIING CONDS ENCOUNTERED:

NOTE OPERATION IN ICIING CONDS MAY RESULT IN ENG VIB INDICATIONS ABOVE NORMAL OPERATING RANGE DURING ICE SHEDDING

IF N1 AT OR BELOW 70 % N1 WHEN FAN ICIING IS SUSPECTED DUE TO HIGH ENG VIB THE FAN BLADES MUST BE CLEARED OF ICE

EVERY 15 MINS ON BOTH ENGINES ONE ENGINE AT A TIME:
INCREASE MIN 70 % N1 FOR 10-30 SECS

18
Q

WAI IN FLT

A

ICE ACCUMULATION ON FLT DECK WINDOW FRAMES/ WINDSHIELD CENTER POST/ OR WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM OR SIDE WINDOWS MAY BE USED AS AN INDICATION OF STRUCTURAL ICIING CONDS AND NEED FOR WAI

19
Q

WAI

HOW DOES IT OPERATE

A

WAI MAINLY USED TO PREVENT ICIING IN FLT

PRIMARY METHOD
USE THE AUTO ICE DETECTION SYS TO CONTROL WAI OPERATION AUTO THROUGHOUT ENTIRE FLT ENVELOPE.

THIS AUTO MODE USES COMBINATION OF SYMMETRIC SLAT ANTI ICE AND DE ICE FUNCTIONS TO PROVIDE CLEANEST AIRFOIL SURFACE/ THE LEAST POSS RUNBACK ICE FORMATION/ AND LEAST THRUST AND FUEL PENALTY

SECONDARY MODE
SEL WAI ON

DO NOT USE WAI TAT > 10 DEG C

20
Q

MANUAL USE WAI

A

WAI ON CHECK WAI SHOWN EICAS

WING ANTI ICE OFF ADVISORY MSG WHEN SEL OFF

21
Q

COLD TEMP ALT CORRECTIONS

A

EXTREMELY LOW TEMPS CREATE SIGNIFICANT ALTIMETRY ERRORS AND GREATER POTENTIAL FOR REDUCED TERR CLEARANCE

WHEN TEMP < ISA TRUE ALT LOWER THAN INDICATED ALT

ALTIMETRY ERRORS SIGNIFICANTLY
LARGER WHEN SURFACE TEMP APPROACHES -30 DEG C OR COLDER AND BECOME LARGER WITH INCREASING HEIGHT ABOVE THE ALTIMETER REF SOURCE

22
Q

COLD WX CORRECTIONS

WHICH ALTS

A

ALL PUBLISHED MIN DEP ENROUTE AND APPROACH ALTS
ADVISE ATC OF CORRECTIONS

MDA DA SETTINGS SHOULD BE AT CORRECTED MIN ALTS FOR APP

23
Q

WHEN DO COLD WX CORRECTIONS NOT NEED TO BE APPLIED

A

WHILE UNDER ATC RADAR VECTORS

AT ATC ASSIGNED FL

WHEN REPORTED AIRPORT TEMP > 0 DEG C

24
Q

TAXI

AFTER LANDING

A

TAXI REDUCED SPEED
SMALL TILLER INPUTS
DIFFERENTIAL THRUST MAY ASSIST DURING TURNS

PRECAUTIONS MUST BE TAKEN FOR JET BLAST UP TO 200 M BEHIND THE ACFT/ SNOW AND ICE AT THE EDGE OF THE TAXIWAY THAT CAN BE INGESTED BY THE ENGINES/ SLIPPERY TAXI SURFACES AND AIRPORT NOISE RESTRICTIONS

25
Q

AFTER LANDING PROC

A

IN ORDER TO DETECTED AN UNANNUNCIATED FAILURE OF THE SLAT DRIVE SYS THE FLT CREW MUST NOTIFY MAINT THAT CHECK SLAT DRIVE SYS REQD IF:

OAT AT DEST APT 50 DEG F 10 DEG C OR BELOW AND OPERATING ON GND WITH ICE SNOW SLUSH OR STANDING WATER
OR
AN ACCUMULATION OF AIRFRAME ICE OBSERVED OR SUSPECTED FOR EXAMPLE WAI ACTIVE DURING APP

POSTFLT CHECK BY MAINT TO ENSURE OUTBOARD SLAT ACTUATORS ARE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY

26
Q

AFTER LANDING
