growth plates located on the ends of femur and humerus, along with epiphyseal plates near the ends of femur and humerus

  • at birth posterior fontenella is still soft but closes in about 2-3 months
  • anterior fontenele closes between 9-18 months

signs of dehydration

A

look at the soft spot on infants head.

  • if sunken in, the baby is lacking water and fluids
  • if bulging, then the baby should be inspected. (unless baby is crying causing slight bulge)
