Chapter 7 Blood Flashcards
1
Q
plasma oncotic pressure
A
blood plasma contains large protiens that attract water away from the area around body cells and pull it into the bloodstream
-this is counterbalanced by Hydrostatic pressure
2
Q
hydrostatic pressure
A
pushes fluid back out of the blood vessels toward the cells.
-counter acts the process of plasma oncotic pressure
3
Q
albumin
A
one of the large protiens found in plasma
- created in the liver
- without the pulling in force of the protiens, water freely leaves the bloodstream causing dehydration and edema (swelling)
4
Q
blood dysfunctions
A
blood simply needs enough volume and pressure to accomplish its goal of oxygenating the body
5
Q
the 5 white blood cells (leukocyte)
A
- monocyte
- lyphocyte
- neutrophil
- eosinophil
- basophil
