Departmental Directive
___ : The title of the publication containing departmental values, mission statement, Departmental Directives, policy, rules, regulations, procedures, and organization. It provides general guidance to all departmental employees. The __ should
not include guidance that is specific only to one organizational element which would be better suited for a Subordinate Directive or element SOP. The __ is organized into Chapters with subparts. Chapters are subdivisions which include information relating to a general subject area. Chapter subparts, termed “Parts,” are sections that relate to a specific subject area within a Chapter.
Departmental Manual (DM):

Procedure
___: A written document used to guide or affect the performance or conduct of agency employees. The term includes the DM, SOPs, policies, procedures, rules, regulations, general orders, special orders, memorandums and instructional material.
Written directive

*Every written directive must be emailed by or signed by an authorized issuing authority.
Who is the only authorized person that may issue, modify or approve a DM revision Directives and Departmental Directives?
The Director
or someone acting in the Director’s capacity, or the Director’s designee.
____ Only a commander or supervisor of a major organizational element, a commander or supervisor acting in that capacity, or a commander’s or supervisor’s designee, may issue a __ Directive. Such directives are only for that major organizational element and/or subordinate elements under that command.
Subordinate Directive
Approved major organizational element SOPs shall be submitted to the __ annually, and when any updates are made, for review to ensure compliance with County and Department procedures, and state and local laws.
