What is the Integumentary system?
Made up of the skin and various accessory organs
What are the 5 accessory organs to the skin?
Sensory receptors
Nails
Hair
Oil glands & Sweat glands (or exocrine glands)
What does integument mean?
Natural covering. Think of the skin as the protective overcoat against outside daily elements; germs, chemicals,sun.
What is the SKELETAL SYSTEM?
Forms the physical foundation of the body

What connects bones together?
Ligaments
What connects muscle to bone?
Tendons
What is a joint?
Connection between two or more bones. There are two types of joints.
What are the two types oh joints?
Movable: elbows , knees, hips
Immovable: pelvis,skull
What is the primary function of the skeletal system?
•shape/support
•protect internal structure and organs
•attaches muscles & act as levers for movement
•help produce red/white blood cells (a bone marrow function)
•stores most calcium, phosphorus,magnesium,and sodium supply.
Fun fact about joints?
There’s over 230 movable and semi movable joints in the body. Many people complain of joint pain when in reality it’s the tissue surrounding the joint.
