Do not give intranasally
What are the side effects of desmopressin?
Hyponatraemic convulsions
What are the counselling points for desmopressin?
Avoid fluid overload, restrict fluid intake for 1 hour before and 8 hours afterwards
Stop in vomiting/diarrhoea until normal fluid balance

Relaxes prostatic smooth muscle

What are the side effects of the alpha blockers?
Hypotension - postural hypotension
Intra operative flopping iris syndrome
What are the contraindications of the alpha blockers?
Postural hypotension
What are the counselling points for the alpha blockers?
Take first dose at bedtime as risk of first dose postural hypotension
Driving can be impaired
