A
binds to ergosterol to cause increased fungal membrane permeability and allow potassium to leak out
also binds to cholesterol on our membranes–>infusion rxn

A
inhibit production of ergosterol to kill fungi

issues w/amphotericin B
A
phlebitis
nephrotoxic
hypokalemia - pump ONLY over 2-4h w/rotated IV sites
anemia
infusion rxn: fever, chills, rigors, HA
tx: acetaminophen w/benadryl, or dantrolene
avoid: NSAIDs, aminoglycosides, diuretics
