What is Level 1 Operations referred to?
Standby
What does Level 1 Operations entail? (2)
- responders standby, awaiting assisstamce from elevator technician
- considered non- life threatening
What Level is considered to be the Removal stage of operations?
Level 2
What does Level 2 operations entail? (4)
- passive measures for ectrication
- entrapment time os 90mins
- incident involves non- life threatening conditions with medical factors
- incident onvolves severe environmental factors (hjgh temps in car)
What does Level 3 operations entail?
Rescue
What are the reasons for and methods are used in Level 3 ops?
- involves circumstances where there is an immediate threat to life or exteme, or
- extreme environmental factors;
** forceful measures are warranted
What must Elevator Rescue Team personnel suuccessfully complete?
- department approved elevator rescue/ training

What are duties of Level 1 operations (standby)? (5)
- make contact w/ building representative
- either have superintendent of Fire Control contact elevator technician and provide ETA.
- Size up situation
- assess conditions of elevator occupants for life threatening conditions; notify ambulance as required
- if patient removal is required, iniitiate Level 2 or 3 Operations.
Where may personnel find elevator maintenance company name and #? (2)
- Fire Safety Plan lockbox

What are guidelines of Level 2 Operation (Removal)?
- Ensure Level 1 (Standby) guidelines are followed
- notify EMS/ establish Elevator Rescue Sector
- prior to removal of passengers, mainline disconnect shal be locked-out/ tagged- out
- use only approved equipment, guidelines, and lock-out procedures under direct supervision of certified personnel or elevator technician
What is to be done if “Drive Sheave” is rocking back and forth (yo- yoing)?
Do NOT down mainline disconnect.
What are Level 3 Operations (Rescue) guidelines? (3)
- prior to removal, ensure mainline disconnect shall be locked- out/ tagged-out
- open landing door using any prescribed methods
- evacuate trapped passengers
Whose responsibility is it to place elevator back in service?
elevator service representative is responsible for putting elevator back in service.
When can IC clear the scene of elevator removal/ rescue (?)
when IC has confirmed the building rep. has assumed responsibility of elevator security.
