When shall specilaized cleaning be performed?
any time PPE is contaminated w/ biohazardous or hazardous material
What are examples of bio/ hazardous materials? (5)
- body fluids
- chemicals
- fuel
- hazardous compounds
- any substances capable of creating harm/ damaging the garment
What items can be sent for specialized cleaning? (2)
- buker gear ensemble set
2. ensemble elements (helmet liners, balaclavas, FF gloves)
When are repairs required?
anytime an ensemble or element becomes damaged/ defective
What is CBRNE?
Chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, explosive
When is PPE retired from service after exposure to hazmat?
has been contaminated with confirmed CBRNE agent
When shall biohazrdous material be removed?
removed on scene after confirmed exposure
Where shall biohazardous gear be placed and securely closed?
into biohazardous bags
Where shall biohazardous bag be placed?
into clear plastic bag
What shall be included on red contamination tag?
- name
- shift
- station
- specify what suspected contaminates are
How is double bagged and labelled gear transported? (2)
- staff returns gear back to station
2. at station, gear is placed into black bags provided by manufacturer for shipping
What items of ensemble elements can be sent for specialized cleaning? (3)
- FF gloves
- calaclavas/ hood elements
- FF boots if cannot be cleaned 1st with mild detergent at station
What is to be filled out when requesting repair of bunker gear ensemble?
Special Cleaning and Repair Work Order form
What should be sent for repair?
entire ensemble as a unit even if only element requires repair
Whom should be notified of necessary repairs by whom? (2)
- Supply and Equipment Officers at A&M
