Entry Control Person (ECP)
assigned by IC to oversee entry control operations
Exclusion Zone
area determined by IC/ Safety Officer that is to be cordoned off with entry prohibited to all
First Alarm
initial arriving attack teams consisting of pumper, aerial or squad crews

Incident Action Plan (IAP ) (4)
a strategic plan developed by:
- evaluating conditions
- developing tactical approaches
- identifying available resources
- preparing assignments
What tactical priorities is the IAP based on achieving? (3)

IC
person who assumes command and control of personnel and apparatus at incident, operating at strategic level
Incident Safety Officer (ISO)
trained fire service member ho provides info and attention to supplement role and reponsibility of IC for incident safety
Initial Report
concise radio message to provide a description of conditions and the confirmation and designation of command
Level 1 staging
staging of units in an area that is safe distance from scene but allows for quick response when ordered by IC
Level 2 staging
usually utilized during incidents that are large, complex, lengthy
Where are Level 2 staging units staged?
staged together in a specific location under command of staging coordinator
Loss Stopped
fire has been extinguished and no further fire damage expected
Mobile Command
flexibility given to 1st officer on scene who may be req’d to assist crew and not req’d to take a fixed position
Offensive Strategy
an attack, with related support, designed to quickly bring the situation under control
On Deck
forward placement of a fully equipped crew to an established tactical position to provide a ready supply of staffing
Pass Command
tactical decision by 1st arriving officer to transfer command to a 2nd arriving officer.
What does Passing Command allow for 1st arriving officer to do?
allows to work with crew and stills allows stationary command through 2nd officer
PPE
equipment designed to protect the wearer from harm

Primary Search

- Moderate smoke- smoke that obscures vision

- Light heat- heat that allows standing
- Moderate heat- heat that allows standing for short time
- Heavy heat- heat that does not allow for standing

Sectors
smaller, more managable unit of fire ground command delegated by IC to provide management and command for specific functions/ geographical areas of fire ground
Sector Officers
assigned by IC; manage specific sectors of inocident or specific emergency functions
What level do Sector Officers manage at?

Senior Officer
Fire CHief, Dep. Fire Chief, PC- may not take over command, may assist IC. They assume overall scene authority
Size-up
- systematic process consisting of rapid yet deliberate consideration of all critical fireground factors
- leads to development of a rational incident action plan based on these factors
Special Operations (7)
all FF activities that include:
- water/ ice rescue
- extrications
- HAZmat
4 confined space entries
- high- angle rescue
- aircraft rescue
- any other ops that req. specialized training
Staging Coordinator
- advises IC of equipment and resources available;
- assigns specific cpmpanies at IC’s request
- assists these companies in responding to their assignments

a request normally from Fire Control rregarding status of apparatus, incl. estimate of length of time apparatus is expected to be committed to emergency scene.
