What are considerations in developing a hazard/ risk assessment? (5)

- BLEVE due to over- pressurization?
- can personnel become injured due to toxic/ corrosive materials?
- do materials react with water, air, other?
- are materials involved in fire or potential to become involved?
What is the preferred initial attack extinguishments used?
Dry chemical, CO2 extinguishers
What must be done if Hazmat team has not arrived before entry is made? (4)
- decon area established
- use charged 45mm handline
- full PPE for personnel manning decon area
- decon area is suitable and can contain/ control run-off
Who will IC decide alongside with to cease unsuccessful extinguishment efforts and allow hazardous matrials to burn freely? (2)

What are Hazmat Team responsibilities?
- evaluate hazmats
- conduct hazard/ risk assesment
- evaluate/ re-establish zones if req’d
- assess personnel/ civilians for hazmat decon and/ or medical treatment
- set-up and perform decon, if req’d
- evaluate, make recommendations regarding run-off
- provide additional manpoer for firefighting
- evaluate persons exposed to contaminants
