50. Consultation / Supervision Flashcards
When to Consult Your Supervisor:
When there’s an ethical or values conflict with a client, a SW should first consult with a supervisor
Ethical Issues with Clients:
Issues such as abortion, religious beliefs, or client’s right to terminate medical treatment
Case Consultations:
Consult cases with supervisors first when any values conflict or dilemma comes up with a client
Issues of Confidentiality:
Confidentiality issues may arise in a group consultation, it is good to get a release from the client for SW to receive supervision in a group setting (possible issues can come up and identify client as it is issue of confidentiality)
Unethical Behavior of Peers:
If a SW recognizes that a colleague is doing unethical behavior, the COE states to first address the colleague about their problematic behavior
If the issue was addressed and the problem continues, then the SW can bring it up to a supervisor
