When a SW speaks on behalf of the client or community and taking action of the problem
Advocate
A SW who helps organize a situation or group of people to make social change happen (such as members of community for support)
Coordinator
Can join into group or population to provide support as a member for social change or social action
Supporter
Evaluating the effectiveness of program, SW should put ethical values first (health and well-being of clients)
Program Evaluation
Community Assessment:
Find out specifically what issues the community faces and what are the ideas, solutions, and interventions the community believes they need (hold focus groups to collect information)
SW should help the community make changes they want, not what the SW wants to help them develop skills themselves in self-determination, so they are not reliant on the systems
Impact of Social Welfare Legislation:
Provide psychoeducation to clients about new legislations and how it affects them (such as those who use Medicaid and there are changes at state level)
