Symptoms of Trauma in Adults:

A

They feel numb, disconnected from their body, and not feeling connected to what is going on in the world (sign of early trauma, especially sexually abused victims)

Also, they show a startled response (jumpy clients from sound or often seen in domestic violence clients)

A

Early signs of trauma include nightmares, reliving of event, difficulty concentrating, edginess, agitation, unexplained anger, mood swings, self-blame, guilt, and shame

This may develop when the child’s basic needs for comfort, affection, and nurturing aren’t met and when loving, caring, and stable attachments with others are not established (0-5 years)
