What are features from erythema ab igne?
Skin condition caused by exposure to heat e.g. heatpacks/ water bottles
Seen also in people with hypothyroidism and lymphoedema
Treat with topical tretinoin or laser
What is the referral criteria for bladder cancer?
Age >45 and have
- unexplained visible haematuria without UTI
- visible haematuria that persists despite abx treatment for UTI
Age >60
- non visible haematuria and either dysuria or WCC on blood test
What is the management of bladder cancer?
Non muscle invasive tumours
- BCG vaccine
Muscle invasice
- radiacl cystectomy and node dissection
- platinum chemo before cystectomy recommended
Non surgical candidates
- chemotherapy and radiation
- small volume disease= partial cystectomy
Immunotherapy can be used if not fit for chemotherapy
What medical conditions is H.pylori associated with?
Peptic ulcer disease
MALT lymphoma
Gastric adenocarcinoma
Menetriers disease- hypetrophy of gastric mucosa leading to increased mucus production and reduced acid production
Coronaritis- inflammation of coronary arteries
Fe deficient anaemia
How long should anti-depressants be continued once in remission
For 6 months once in remission
What are CXR findings of malignant mesothelioma?
Obliteration of diaphragm
Nodular thickening of the pleura
Decreased size of chest
Radiolucent sheetlike encasement of pleura
Loculated effusion
Need pleural biopsy for certain diagnosis
What are features of pinna cellulitis?
Complication of acute OE
Inflammation of entire ear including ear lobe
Commonly caused by staph aureus
Precipitants including piercing, burns, laceration etc.
Treat with oral abx
What is the MRC scale for muscle power?
0- no muscle contraction
1- flicker of contraction
2- some active movement
3- movement against gravity
4- movement against resistance
5- normal power
Which organism causes rust coloured sputum?
Strep pneumoniae
Which organism causes redcurrant jelly coloured sputum?
Klebsiella
What medications can be used to treat male androgenetic alopecia?
Finasteride

What are clinical features of Lyme disease?

Rash appears about 1 week post bite- can have target appearance
Grows over days to weeks

How can you prevent renal stones?
Reduce tea/chocolate/nuts/strawbs/rhubarb/spinach/bean intake
What are features of keratocanthoma?
Rapidly growing epidermal tumour
Starts as erythematous nodule and grows over 3-4 weeks
Central keratin filled crater which forms a plug
Should heal on its own or can have surgical repair to minimise scarring
