What are features of AA amyloidosis?
Caused by Autoimmune diseases or chronic infections
Nephrotic syndrome
Hepatomegaly
Weight loss
Fatigue/malaise
What is the management of rosacea?
If flushing main symptom
- topical bromonidine gel
Mild
-topical ivermectin
Severe
-topical ivermectin and PO doxycycline
What can be used in threatened miscarriage to prevent miscarriage?
Vaginal progesterone 400mg BD until week 16
What are features of syphillis?
Primary
- chancre with regional lymphadenopathy
Secondary
-generalised lymphadenopathy
- snail tract lesions
-condylomata lata- wart like lesions
-rash
Tertiary syphilis
- neurosyphilis
-Aortitis
- Gumma- nodules/plaques
What are features of Adult onset Stills Disease?
Fever
Joint pain
Rash
Ferritin/ESR/ CRP elevated
Treat with NSAIDS and steroids
Long term- Methotrexate
What is the referral pathway for suspected lung cancer?
Refer to 2WW if
CXR suggestive of lung Ca OR >40 and haemoptysis unexplained
CXR offered for other symptoms
What are features of Tumour Lysis Syndrome?
Life threatening complication- lysis of large amounts of cells
AKI
Cardiac Arrhythmia
Seizures
Hyperkalaemia
Hyperphosphataemia
Hypocalcaemia
Treat with IV rasburicase or IV allopurinol
What is the management of meningitis?
> 3 months IV ceftriaxone
Age <3 months or >60 IV cefotaxime and amoxicillin
If travel outside UK within 3 months add vancomycin
Meningogococcal
- IV ceftriaxone
