What is diabetes?
disease caused by hormonal imbalance; blood sugar is high and there is a lack of insulin

pancreas does not make insulin; has a genetic link; diagnosed early in life

linked with being overweight; diagnosed later in life; pancreas makes insulin but the body becomes resistant or does not produce enough to cover your needs

What is syndrome X?
metabolic syndrome; linked to a diet high in refined carbohydrates
