Occurrence ethiology and epidemiology?

A

OCCURRENCE, ETIOLOGY AND EPIDEMIOLOGY

  • Worldwide occurrence, sporadic, more frequent in tropical countries
  • Caused by Avibacterium paragallinarum A, B, C (Hemophilus paragallinarum)
  • NAD and CO2 are needed for culture
  • Virulence variants
  • Low resistance, but survives in water
  • Only hens are susceptible, Susceptibility increases with age
  • Sudden appearance, fast spread in the whole flock, carried by recovered animals
  • No germinative infection
  • Predisposing factors are needed for infection (fac. Pathogen)
  • Laying, infections

TREATMENT AND PREVENTION

  • Antibiotics ʹ bacterium carriers remain
  • Prevention of introduction
  • Vaccines ʹ inactivated, at age of 6-10 weeks 2 times, serotype specific protection
